INTRODUCTION
This course is the second of a two-course sequence in computer Literacy for non-computer science majors.

OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Use the features of specific software programs to develop worksheets, databases and presentations for personal and professional uses.
- Integrate the outputs of the different software programs.

Contents – The course is divided into THREE modules:
Module 5 – Spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel 2007 (17 hours) -weeks 1 – 5
H1: Create worksheets: set margins; set paper size; enter text and numbers; enter formulas; save worksheets.
H2: Modify worksheets: open worksheets; delete cell contents; change cell contents; copy and move data; insert, modify, and delete rows and columns.
H3: Freeze worksheet titles; insert graphics.
H4: Use absolute and relative addressing.
H5: Use functions: AVERAGE; MIN; MAX; IF
H6: Format worksheets: modify cell sizes and alignment; apply general number formats; apply font formats.
H7: Add borders to a range.
H8: Insert headers and footers; page numbers.
H9: Preview and print worksheets.
H10: Create charts: naming charts; naming axis.
H11: Format and modify charts: choosing types of charts.
H12: Sort data; query worksheet and extract data.
H13: Create; record, edit and run macros.
H14: Link and use multiple worksheets.
H15: Import data from other applications; export data to other applications.
H16, H17: Test #1.

Module 6 – Database using Microsoft Access 2007 (17 hours) -weeks 5 – 9
H18: Create a database: plan a database; create a table; enter data in a table.
H19: Modify data in a table; delete data from a table; navigate through a table.
H20: Use forms: create a simple form; modify a form; add records using a form.
H21: Modify a database: open a database; modify table structure; modify field properties.
H22: View information: view multiple records; switch between views and add pictures to records.
H23: Organise information: sort data on a single and multiple field.
H24: Create simple queries.
H25: Create complex queries: multiple conditions; join tables.
H26: Analyse Data: build summary queries; calculate fields.
H27: Build relational database: identify relationships; relate tables.
H28: Modify database: use key fields; add and delete data.
H29: Maintain data integrity: identify criteria for data integrity; validate text and set validation rules.
H30: Import data; link data; export data to other applications.
H31: Generate reports: create, modify and label a report; customize headers and footers.
H32: Make calculations on a report; group and sort data in a report; print a report; print a form; print the results of a query.

Module 7 – Presentation Graphics using PowerPoint 2007 (18 hours) -weeks 9 – 13
H35: Create a presentation from a template or an existing presentation; delete slides.
H36: Enter Text in a slide; enter bulleted information; change text alignment.
H37: Insert an Excel chart; import text from Word.
H38: Create a bulleted list slide.
H39: Modifying a presentation – editing, adding and deleting slides.
H40: Change slide layout.
H41: Insert and format clip art objects.
H42: Add sound and movie (video clips) to slides.
H43: Apply animations and slide transition effects.
H44: Apply animation effects to bulleted slides.
H45: Animate clip art objects.
H46: Animate a slide show.
H47: Customise a presentation: create a custom background; customise a colour scheme; customise clip arts and other objects.
H48: Apply a template from another presentation; add links to other slides within the presentation; hide slides.
H49: Deliver presentation: start a slide show on any slide; use on screen navigation tools.
H50: Print slides in a variety of formats, save presentation.
